Yes!, honey in warm water with lemon can help a cough, by soothing the throat and acting similarly to over-the-counter cough medicines, according to the NHS.
Honey's thick texture coats and soothes the throat, while its antimicrobial properties may also help reduce infection and swelling. The warm liquid helps to soothe a sore throat and loosen mucus.
How to make it
- Squeeze half a lemon into a mug of warm water.
- Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey and stir.
- Drink the mixture while it is still warm.
